Time to Recharge?

A Testimony from Living for the King
By Maureen Fox

I took Living for the King (LFK) this past winter knowing that it was time to shed my complacent walk with the Lord. I wanted to awaken my passion and desire to seek His kingdom and serve Him. I am glad to say that LFK blessed my life with gospel-filled teaching: I spent 12 weeks wrestling with truths of the gospel and learning alongside other believers just how to apply these truths to my life. I have come away refreshed to serve Him.

LFK includes rich teaching, reflective homework and interactive small-group time. Throughout this process, I learned more about myself and the root of my sin via thought-provoking questions that promoted “radical self-honesty.” I began to more fully understand the atoning sacrifice that Jesus paid for my sins. This has propelled me on a path of daily repentance as well as forgiveness.

LFK reaffirmed that my identity is rooted in Christ: I have learned to stop minimizing my sin and instead confess it readily to God. God graciously waits patiently for me to stop acting like an orphan and welcomes me into His kingdom as His daughter. I have learned about my self-reliant ways and tendency toward works righteousness. But more importantly, Christ’s righteousness covers me and God forgives me for my sins. With acceptance of Christ, God redeems my brokenness and spiritual poverty and permits me fellowship with Him in all circumstances. (Rom 8:38-39 “For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”)

I have seen the sparks of spiritual growth in my life and now recognize the power of the Holy Spirit to bring fruit. I have learned to stop minimizing God and instead to allow God’s love to propel me into community/His kingdom. I have begun to view relationships differently, relinquishing my self-reliance and rooting them instead in the security of Christ; no longer fearful and distrustful, but rather trusting in Him, who brings people into my life for His purposes. I am excited to rely on God’s grace, mercy and love to bring balance to my life. Try LFK and come find Jesus waiting patiently for you to discover His saving grace!
