Disciples Who Make Disciples

Ron Lutz ~ Matthew 28:16-20; Deuteronomy 6:4-9   Sermon Quotes: Matthew 28:16-20 16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him, but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Deuteronomy 6:4-9 4 “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 5 You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 6 And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. 7 You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. 8 You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. 9 You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates. We often surround ourselves with the people we most want to live with, thus forming a club or clique, not a community. Anyone can form a club; it takes grace, shared vision, and hard work to form a community. Philip Yancey Luke 6:40 A disciple is not above his teacher, but everyone when he is fully trained will be like his teacher. 2 Timothy 2:1-2 You then, my child, be strengthened by the grace that is in Christ Jesus, and what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men who will be able to teach others also. MISSION: TO BUILD A COMMUNITY CENTERED ON JESUS, ACTIVE IN THE RENEWAL OF ALL THINGS “…Wash one another’s feet.” (John 13:14) “…Honor one another above yourselves. (Romans 12:10) “Accept one another, then, just as Christ accepted you…” (Romans 15:7) “…Instruct one another.” (Romans 15:14) “…Serve one another in love.” (Galatians 5:13) “Carry each other’s burdens…” (Galatians 6:2) “…Be patient, bearing with one another in love.” (Ephesians 4:2) “…Forgiving each other…” (Ephesians 4:32) “Teach…[one another]” (Colossians 3:16) “…Encourage each other…” (1 Thessalonians 4:18) “…Build each other up…” (1 Thessalonians 5:11)
