Working for the Lord

Ron Lutz ~ Colossians 3:22-24, 1 Corinthians 10:31   Sermon Quotes: Colossians 3:22-24 22 Slaves, obey your earthly masters in everything; and do it, not only when their eye is on you and to win their favor, but with sincerity of heart and reverence for the Lord. 23 Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. 1 Corinthians 10:31 So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Titus 2:9-10 Teach slaves to be subject to their masters in everything, to try to please them, not to talk back to them, 10 and not to steal from them, but to show that they can be fully trusted, so that in every way they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive. Dale Roberts: Family, Faith, Life, and Art Genesis 2:15 “The Lord God took the man and put him into the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” John Stott Work is the expenditure of energy (manual or mental or both) in the service of others, which brings fulfillment to the worker, benefit to the community and glory to God. Dorothy Sayers Work should be seen not, primarily as a thing one does to live, but the thing one lives to do… Work is, or it should be, the full expression of the worker’s gifts, the thing in which he finds spiritual, mental and bodily satisfaction, and the medium in which he offers himself to God…man, made in God’s image, should make things, as God makes them, for the sake of doing well a thing that is well worth doing. 1 Peter 3:15 15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect…
