Women’s Retreat 2019
Women at the Well: Finding Living Water in Times of Drought
Harvey Cedars, NJ
“Sometimes and sometimes more often than not, life doesn’t turn out the way we had planned or hoped. In certain seasons it can feel like God isn’t present and our souls can feel alone and in drought. At this year’s women’s retreat, we will explore two women whose lives didn’t turn out as expected and who encountered the Living God. Both Hagar (Genesis 16) and the Woman at the Well (John 4) met God when life was not turning out as they hoped and in times when they felt isolated and unseen. In these encounters, we will explore how God meets these women where they are and reminds them that they’re seen and loved by him regardless of their circumstances. We will be reminded that as a community of God’s daughters that we are seen and loved by Him and that the outcome of this world can never satisfy like the Living Water Jesus offers us in himself.”
The retreat begins Friday at 7 pm and ends Sunday at 11 am and includes breakfast, lunch, and dinner Saturday and breakfast Sunday. The accommodations at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference are in Bayview Lodge on the bay with beautiful sunset views. The lodge has 34 rooms, each with a balcony and two queen beds or one queen and two twin beds and a full bath.
A former member of New Life from the early nineties, Stacy has great memories of amazing women who were formative for her as a newlywed. She also remembers getting kicked out of a sonship class for not doing her homework. But that is another story.
Although her professional training and practice are in the field of education, She has been married to a pastor and church planter for 30 years, serving congregations in Lexington, SC, Charlottesville, Va, Manhattan and West Philadelphia. A child of the rural South, she now wholeheartedly embraces urban life with all its oddities, to the great confusion of her parents. After working with women through church staff positions for many years, she currently works as the Admissions Counselor for Missio (formerly Biblical) Seminary Counseling programs. Her three adult children, spread around the East Coast, teach her much about grace and even more about prayer. She loves being on a trail, in a book or around a table in a good conversation.
Jen is a Montgomery County native, born and raised in Springfield Township. After becoming a Christian in seventh grade through youth group, she has been learning and re-learning what it means to walk by faith as a follower of Jesus. She studied fine art in college and upon her return from school fell in love with the blonde-haired, blue-eyed Josh Standen. She and josh became members of new life Dresher in 2006, attending home group and taking the Living for the King course. Their family has grown to four, and they delight in parenting Emma and Matthew. Jen is an avid gardener, indoor rower, decorator, and organizer. Her love for others comes out in acts of service and this has translated well to her contributions at Bethany driving local fundraising efforts over the past 5 years. She’s now enjoying a break and has her eyes set on Christ as she heads into a new adventure ever-unfolding.
Catherine arrived from the UK in 2011 to study at CCEF for ten months. Soon after arriving, she met Kevin Krasinski, and in 2013 she came back for good. She and Kevin now have two young sons, Owen and Sam. Catherine has a true heart for people, and blesses those around her with her wisdom and compassion. She has worked as a counselor off and on since Owen was born. Currently she is taking a break from counseling and focusing on the full-time work of raising two energetic boys. She enjoys properly brewed tea, thoughtful conversations, Cycling, and the British version of The Office.
