Student Ministry

What are we about?

I Timothy 4:8 “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.” Training in godliness — knowing Jesus more deeply in all areas — has value for all the things demanded of our students: athletics, academics, family life, and community leadership. A relationship with Jesus is integral to all of life, because he infuses hope into hopeless, difficult situations and relationships.

A Ministry of our Youth, not just to our Youth

New Life Student Ministries are ministries of our youth. We seek to equip our students for ministry and to encourage them to find the particular ministries to which God is calling them. We are not working to give our students a ‘safe’ place to hang out. This ministry is about encouraging our youth to take risks and rely heavily on Jesus as we study His Word, learn about prayer, live in community together, and serve the people around us. There is no such thing as ‘safe’ Christian community because we do not serve a ‘safe’ God. Our students will learn and grow in their relationship with Jesus as they are encouraged to live in unity with Him and each other.

Core Values

Family friendly, family focused: not creating a church calendar that leaves families exhausted and disconnected. Employing the parents as the primary disciplers of their own students.

Multi-generational: using the gifts of all of God’s body to minister to one another in relationships.

Student Ministries, not Youth Group: being an integral part of the body not a separate appendage — involving students in ministry in the body, in their communities, schools, and families. This is a ministry to our students, but it is also a ministry of our students.

Vision for Student Ministry

Relying on the power of Jesus Christ, New Life Student Ministries seeks to develop young disciples as ambassadors of his gospel that changes lives, shapes community, and compels them outward.
